Christians vs Church folk

Went to bible study tonight. It's a trip how when you hear something you've heard before your mind starts to wonder. I was thinking about the people in church who are there for the church and the people who are there for God. As for me it's a God thing, I can front at home. I can hop on Xbox Live or the internet in general and be as phony as I want to be. But some people I see N church kind of trip me out. Like My pastor has spurts where I can tell he's kind of angry at the fact that we (I'm just guessing) ain't all tithers. I know for a fact that I pay my tithes, ask my tax man. But this trips me out, I've been actively going to church for about two years now and when I first started I thought everybody in there was a super saint.
As for me, I had never really been exposed to church as a child other than the occasional Easter service at my uncle's church. So I didn't really come in to the whole Christianity game with a lot of knowledge. But as a child my mom always taught me the fear of God, she wasn't always super accurate but she scared me into reverence. She'd say things like "God can do anything, he'll strike you down where you stand". Or "He'll make it to where everything you do will fail". So I had a genuine FEAR of God like he was a big Freddy Krueger in the sky. So when I get into church with all these people who I assume have read the Bible 3 or 4 times and can quote any scripture at the drop of the hat I'm intimidated by their righteousness. I'm like "Dang, I hope they don't ask me no Bible questions or nuthin' cuz I don't know na'n". I go through the whole thing of accepting Jesus and make my best attempt to live my life upright and I assumed that everybody was and beyond. I figured we were all here to please God and learn more about him but I'm not too sure anymore. Sometimes it's like whatever the pastor say people are getting all riled up. Like he'll say "God wants to bless you" and people go 18 bananas. Not saying it's wrong to praise God in his house but it seems like some people ain't even listening. They just waiting for an opportunity to trip out. Like,(I say like a lot[sorry]}) I go to church to hear the word of God and hope that the pastor can give me some insight from the scripture that I may have missed out on during my personal time of reading. Others seem to be there just to show out and be in company with other folk who wanna show out. There are times where my pastor will do a whole message that he's done not that long ago, or tell a story we just heard the other day and they're laughing and jumping up and down like it's something new. Are all the lights on? We just heard this at Monday night bible study, it's only Wednesday did you forget? It's kind of annoying. Especially the thing with the tithe. The Bible says that the tithe is holy and is one of the highest forms of worship. So why when it's time to sing and dance folk turn the church into Club Jesus but when it's time to give a dime off of ya dollars you gracefully bow out? It trips me out, especially being the type of dude I am. I take pride in the fact that I keep it 100 100% of the time. I may tell a lie here and there to protect someone's feelings but I repent. I'm not saying I'm without sin but I acknowledge the fact that I may not have the nicest mouth in the world but I do live for Christ and do my best to please God. A lot of church folk seem like they just wanna appear righteous until it's time to go home. Super saint around other church folk until you get home to them Newports. It's kind of funny and sad at the same time. I know a lot of the people at my church personally and especially in the case of my wife's parents, they really holdin' it down for the Lord. Others, not so much. I just trip off how my perception has changed over my two years as a real God-fearing, tithing, tongue speaking believer. I thought all church people were God people, I guess not. Sorry if I offended anybody who reads this but if you really there for God then this ain't for you. What do you think?

T-Pain and Hannity

I don't really see nothing wrong wit this. I understand that as black people we are programmed to believe that we are automatically supposed to be democrats but if I was rich I would vote Republican. It comes to a point where you gotta look out for your own interest. I know that there are martyrs out there who want to look out for the black plight and everything but "Not I" said tha cat. I got no prob with the republicans. I know that all politicians suck and if U think that there is any politician that really has your best interest in mind #SlapYaSelf(For ma Tweeters). I'm happy Obama won but I didn't vote 4 him. I didn't really care for a lot of the things he said about abortion and how at times he seemed confused when there was no teleprompter around. Not to say that he's doin' a bad job but at the time I cast my vote I didn't have much confidence in either candidate so I just prayed for the winner.
I'm getting off topic though. I like T-Pain and I think he got nuts for pullin' this. Bein' seen wit a republican in the Hip-Hop community is like bein' seen' kissin' a man. Well I guess it ain't too bad because Lil' Wayne got away wit it but thass anotha story. Let me know what U think though leave a comment or send me a tweet about it @YungDolemite. Why I don't do BET

Is it me or does BET seem to look more and more like a minstrel show? Every time I look at it I get kind of offended. They say it's ran by black folks but it looks like the channel that white people think black people wanna see. It's like they say "Well, we know they like Hip-Hop and R&B so throw some of that on there and the rest we'll just take from MTV and add all black characters." When I was little I loved BET, I used to watch Rap City when Joe Clair and Big Lez were hosting and trip off Video Soul with Donnie Simpson. Most of what the show was videos as a matter of fact. They had Video Vibrations and Caribbean Rhythms with that thick island chick Rachel(I think that was her name). Comic View was my stuff too when D.L. Hughley was hosting. Back then the whole weekend was infomercials, but they stuck to what they knew was entertaining to black people. We even had that little news show with Tavis Smiley and all that.

Nowadays you turn to BET and see Frankie and Neffe, we all know it's like turning on the TV and seeing them cousins you don't really claim. They got College Hill, tha show that makes it look like even when we pursue a degree we still gotta be a dumb nigga about it. Theses shows and a lot that I ain't even gonna mention are like the reinforcement of all stereotypes white people have of us. I feel like white people watch it and say "See, I told you they act like that". I hate turning on my television and seeing niggaz act stupid. We gotta do better, that's why Chappelle and The Boondocks never made it on there. As a matter of fact The Boondocks have two episodes dedicated to how BET has turned into Black Ignorant Television. I understand that they do things in an attempt to uplift us like church programs and what not but they make the real money on 106 and Park and all them videos of us coonin' and bafoonin'. Not sayin' that all the music videos on there are bad but HIP HOP is dumbing down every day and BET embraces that. I'm kinda done with it now leave a comment and give me your take on it
